The wind of the summer night, children running along the banks, clouds bringing short-lived rain showers, the sweet-and-sour aroma of apples drifting from the street stalls – the beautiful and uneasy sadness. We are drawn in by a dance of lights and colors, and in the blink of an eye, an elegant and sensory party draws to a close. One wonders: what was it that Kawauchi saw in the fireworks, and what is it that lies beyond them?
